UNFIRED RECLAIMED CLAY, IN VITRINE.
AVERAGE HUMAN BODY WEIGHT (154lbs)
18 x 14 x 24 inches
Human Landscape presents the body as a material inventory of elements. Composed of unfired, reclaimed clay and weighing approximately 154 lbs, the work mirrors the mass of a human body while shifting attention to its elemental composition. Labelled with the twenty-five elements that constitute the body, the sculpture reads as both terrain and inventory, collapsing distinctions between figure and landscape.
In this framing, the body is understood as a wet mineral assemblage, continuous with the same geological processes that shape the earth. Human life becomes a brief organization of elements within a much longer material timeline.
